People

I like & dislike the people.  I like the diversity Barrow offers. I like the location....close to Athens, into Atlanta, or anywhere along the way. I LOVE my neighbors. I enjoy how pretty much everyone waves to you as you pass by. I like the small town feel and the mom & pop places scattered throughout Barrow.
I dislike the reputation it has. I say, "I live in Barrow" and the response is, "oh, I'm sorry" or similar. WHY? I strongly dislike the lack of support for the mom & pop places. One day we see a new restaurant pop up and we're ready to try it. The next time we pass by, it's gone. I mean, I LOVED Periguino & Mike & Val's. I strongly dislike that there is a fried chicken or Mexican restaurant everywhere you turn!!! Barrow seems to love their fast food chains (gag). Thank God for Gateway Crossing- finally introducing other cuisine to the area (eventually). I dislike the day time traffic- something MUST be done. Semi-trucks should not be allowed to pass through town unless their destination is there.  I also dislike the lack of public facilities- parks, pools, etc. Let's take a few ideas from Jackson & Gwinnett, K?  Also, the schools do not have the best reputations. I'm grateful my child is at Bramlett, but by the time she hits M.S., I hope to be able to place her in private school. There needs to be 2 more schoold built for those who live in Barrow near I-85/ 211/ 124: a new M.S. & new H.S. Having to drive or bus the kids all the way in to Winder from the Hoschton/ Braselton area is just unacceptable. That's about all I can think of right now. Ultimately, I think Barrow is a unique, up & coming area and the county should do everything possible to keep growing! I believe in Barrow, and I specialize in selling homes in & around this diverse county. www.NortheastGAhomes.com
