ReplyThat said, I think funding pensions long-term was a good idea, especially in such uncertain times, but the USPS is struggling to meet the obligation congress put on them. If congress wants to keep the obligation, it needs to be willing to discuss the terms of the obligation.

ReplyThe great thing about the USPS is that it's a government thing that runs like a business. Or did. The USPS violated the popular notion that government can do nothing right, so it had to be killed. And congress was clever enough to make it look like the USPS was doing wrong, so it would be easier to get the public to support the execution.
I don't think it's going to work. The USPS is deservedly popular, and more credible than most other government agencies.

ReplyThis will hurt kids who tend to be more introverted. You can't force someone who prefers a few strong connections to become a social butterfly without doing serious long term damage to them.

It's probably not productive to try and debate someone who sees the bible as the literal word of god. I've had plenty of nice chats with religious people who see it as a book of allegories and historical fiction.

I'd rather learn from books written by paleontologists and archaeologists. Ancient religious scholars were blinded by the fears and biases of their era. Paleontologists and archaeologists can at least move past that and help us understand history in he context of the new fears and biases we deal with today.

The writing in those books is beyond inaccessible. Lots of ye and thou and spending a lot of time not begetting on with it.
The Bible, Koran, and Torah aren't much better.

God is welcome to come over for a chat. I'll invite some scientists over to have a poke at him while we talk about history. Can you ask him what brand of soft drink he prefers? I'll be sure to stock up.

I wouldn't describe any of the people I know in the UK as cold or standoffish.
