The Statham Police Department and Code Enforcement Office have teamed up to ensure adherence to local ordinances.
The city of Statham takes great pride in being a beautiful and friendly historic municipality of Barrow County. Needless to say, maintenance of that image requires the hard work and dedication of all of its residents and local business owners. To that end, earlier this month the Statham Police Department announced that its officers will be partnering with the city's code enforcement office to enhance the enforcement of quality of life ordinances within city limits. The Statham Police Department is still investigating a recent home invasion. Michael Pruitt, Statham's public information officer, said there's nothing new to report in an e-mail Sunday, July 15. The department reports the following activity from July 1 through 15, 2012. On July 19, the Statham Police Department will host a seminar and forum on pandemic awareness. Police believe this incident was not a random act and the safety of residents is not at risk.
Officers with the Statham Police Department are searching for a white male suspected of entering a residence on Noah Lane armed with a handgun about 11:25 a.m. today. An unspecified amount of money was stolen, and the suspect, described as wearing a ski mask and jeans, left the scene in a dark pick-up truck. Authorities are on scene as the investigation is being conducted. Statham police believe this was not a random act and the safety of residents is not at risk. Anyone with any information on a suspicious person or vehicle matching the description in the area is asked to call the Statham Police Department at 770-725-5992. According to Statham Police the habitat is suitable for an alligator.
An alligator has reportedly taken up residence in a private pond in the Falls of Statham subdivision just off of Providence Road. On Friday morning, May 25, a regional supervisor from the Department of Natural Resources responded to evaluate the situation in Statham and attempt to locate the animal. Statham Police Officer Michael Pruitt relayed the following information to Patch in an email, "The habitat is suitable to support an alligator and signs were located that are consistent with an alligator living in the pond. The animal is estimated to be between four to six feet. The Regional Supervisor stated that alligators are reclusive and prefer to avoid contact with humans." Statham police are are warning residents after reports of an alligator sighting, CBS Atlanta reports. Tthe alligator was reportedly spotted several times in the pond in the Falls of Statham subdivision off Providence Road. The alligator has not harmed any people or any animals, but police advise residents to use caution in the area, the report said.
