Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head two years ago at an outdoor appearance, told senators Wednesday, "You must act," according to a Los Angeles Times report. The report says Democrats called for stronger laws to limit the sale of guns as Republicans insist existing laws were being under-enforced. Gun control has been a much discussed topic in the media lately, with Gwinnett County's sheriff going as far as saying he encourages law-abiding citizens to acquire firearms. Barrow Patch asked Sheriff Jud Smith what his stance is on gun control. "As the Sheriff of Barrow County I will fully exercise my power to protect and defend the Constitutional rights of the citizens of Barrow County," Smith wrote in an e-mail.
