Saturday Mail Delivery by U.S. Postal Service Could End This August

Package delivery would continue Saturdays. The U.S. Postal Service's plan reportedly would save the agency about $2 billion annually.

The U.S. Postal Service reportedly will end Saturday mail delivery in August 2013, but would continue to deliver packages on Saturdays. According to an ABC News report, the agency is making the move to curb financial losses. The plan would save the agency about $2 billion annually, the report says. Also, delivery to post office boxes would continue on Saturdays, while post offices now open on Saturdays would remain open that day. How would ending Saturday mail delivery affect you? It's impressive that they stay afloat at all given the pressure Congress put on them. It's an essential public service that doesn't cost the public anything, so they need to do whatever they need to do to stay in business.   more ›
