Home damaged and family displaced after home fire that appears to have started in chimney.

A home that is estimated to be over 100 years old was heavily damaged by an early morning fire in the 300 block of Carl Bethlehem Road on Wednesday, Oct. 31. “Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the house. We also found fire coming from the windows in the rear of the house,” stated Battalion Chief Mike Stoops in a press release from Barrow County Emergency Services. According to the press release, crews were able to quickly bring the flames under control by making an aggressive interior attack on the fire. The fire appears to have started in one of the home’s chimneys. The following units responded to this fire: Engine 3, Ladder Truck 7, Med 3, Med 7 and Battalion 1. A vacant singlewide trailer in Auburn was destroyed by fire Monday, Oct. 3. Just before 2:45 p.m., communications officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 364 Browns Bridge Road in Auburn. Firefighters arrived and found a singlewide trailer that had several additions built on that was fully involved. “Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside of the home due to the amount of fire,” Lt. A family of six was displaced Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, following a fire that damaged their home on Mulberry Trail. Just after 11:30 a.m., communications officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 1014 Mulberry Trail. Responding firefighters found smoke throughout a singlewide mobile home with several additions with a small fire in the electrical utility room. A large home fire Thursday, Sept. 22, required fire crews to shuttle water to fight the blaze. Communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call at 10:42 p.m. Thursday reporting a structure fire in the 1400 block of Carl Bethlehem Road. “First arriving firefighters found heavy fire conditions in the second floor of the structure,” Lt. Scott Dakin, public information officer, said in a news release . “The fire had vented through the roof prior to the arrival of fire crews, therefore the decision was made to attack the fire from outside the structure.” The home was more than 5,000 square feet including a basement and two stories. Fire officials said the blaze was caused by a human act.
A home that was completely destroyed by fire today was vacant when it went up in flames. Fire crews with Barrow County Emergency Services arrived at home on Bird Hammond Road just off Atlanta Highway in Statham to find the single-story structure completely involved in fire. Engines 1, 3 and 6, Med 1 and Battalion 1 responded to the fire. With no water source near the location, Winder Engine 2 and a tanker from Jackson Trail Fire responded as well to shuttle water. The cause of the fire was determined to be a human act and is still under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents were able to escape the blaze unharmed.
A house fire Monday night displaced a family of four. Communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received multiple 911 calls at 10:17 p.m. reporting a house fire at 309 Ron Drive in Bethlehem. One of the residents noticed fire on the exterior of the home after stepping into the kitchen and was able to escape the residence safely with the three other occupants, including children.
