Winder Council to Fill Ward 2 Seat Held by Late Councilman Charlie Eberhart

Eberhart died Jan. 30 following a year-long battle with brain cancer.

The Winder City Council will hold a called meeting today, March 19, and will fill a vacant council seat that was held by the late Councilman Charlie Eberhart.  Eberhart, who died Jan. 30, 2013, after battling brain cancer, held the council's Ward 2 seat on the for 22 years, making him its second longest-serving member at the time of his death. Winder Councilman Charlie Eberhart Loses Battle with Brain Cancer

The Barrow Journal reports Eberhart, a longtime member of the Winder City Council, died early Wednesday.

Winder City Councilman Charlie Eberhart died early Wednesday after a year-long battle with brain cancer, the Barrow Journal reports. Winder Council to Vote on Additional Annexations along Exchange Boulevard

View the full agenda for today's Winder City Council meeting.

Effective Jan. 1, the Winder City Limits now extend to Exchange Boulevard, a roadway that runs parallel to Ga. Highway 316 and includes the future site of Gateway Station, a 14,000-square-foot development currently under construction.  Members of the Winder City Council voted unanimously during a meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4, to annex five properties into the city limits, including the property where Athens Regional First Care, an urgent health care facility, is located. During today's council meeting, members are set to vote on additional annexations along Exchange Boulevard. Items 10 through 15 in the agenda, which is provided in a PDF file to the right of this text, are the proposed annexations along Exchange Boulevard.  What do you think …

The meeting is this evening. The $154,648.75 includes the state's $118,960.58 plus the 30 percent match from the city, $35,688.17 (which is 30 percent of $118,960.58). It's a little confusing in the agenda. The info has "118,960.58 x 1.30 = $154,648.75." But it does come out to the city matching 30 percent.   more ›
