Sunshine on a Ranney Day will reveal the makeover in July.
Come mid-July, a toddler injured at his Winder day care center when a tree limb hit him in the head last fall will have a home that accommodates his special needs. The Halstead family has relocated from Barrow County to Jefferson, where, on July 13, a nonprofit organization that creates dream room makeovers for children with long-term illnesses in the metro Atlanta area will unveil its "biggest and most extensive home makeover to date." According to a news release, through generous donations, company sponsors, a design team and volunteers, Sunshine on a Ranney Day is completing a total home makeover for the Halstead family. The G-Braves will hold a 5k and "Tripp Halstead Night" to raise money for the toddler injured in Barrow County last year.
The Gwinnett Braves announced Monday they will hold a 5k to raise funds for Tripp Halstead, the Barrow County toddler injured when a tree limb hit him in the head during Hurricane Sandy last fall. The race called "Tripp's Trot" will take place Saturday, June 22 at 8 a.m. at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Ga. Registration is $25 before May 22 and increases to $35 the day of the event. There will also be a Fun Run. Registration for that is $20. Runners can register at trippstrot.com. The support will continue that day with "Tripp Halstead Night" at the G-Braves game against the Syracuse Chiefs. Personal trainer and world-record holder Greg Cochran was at Road Atlanta this past weekend on Saturday, April 20, as part of a fundraiser for Tripp Halstead, the Barrow County toddler who was critically injured when a large tree limb fell on him last October. Cochran set out to pull two all-new Nissan Pathfinders from Carriage Automotive Group. Thanks to Rebecca Cameron for sharing photos of the event. After being home for just three days, Tripp Halstead, a Winder toddler critically injured in October when a tree limb weighing several hundred pounds fell and struck him in the head, has been hospitalized so doctors can monitor his liver enzymes. Tripp was transported via ambulance Monday morning, according to a post on the Facebook page where his family provides updates on his condition. UPDATE: Stacy Halstead, Tripp's mother, posted that he has been admitted to the hospital so doctors and staff can monitor his liver enzymes, which are elevated. Tripp Halstead, a toddler seriously injured in October when a tree limb weighing several hundred pounds fell and struck him in the head, is recovering from a surgery performed earlier today, according to a post on the Facebook page where the family provides updates on his condition. The procedure was the eighth surgery the toddler has undergone in the past four months. Doctors removed a drain that allowed fluid to flow into a bag outside of his head and replaced it with a new, bacteria-free drain.
