Statham Resident Facing Theft Charges for Alleged Crimes in Barrow, Walton and Oconee Counties

Rod Tyler Thomas, 20, of 458 Hammond Road in Statham, is facing 35 different theft charges, according to an Athens Banner-Herald report.

UPDATE: Oconee Patch has more on this story.  --- A Statham man reportedly told a Walton County deputy he would beat charges after he was arrested mid-October following a high-speed chase through three counties, according to a report by the Athens Banner-Herald.  Rod Tyler Thomas, 20, of 458 Hammond Road in Statham, is facing 35 different theft charges in what an Oconee County investigator has called a "one-man crime spree" that spanned three counties — Barrow, Walton and Oconee.  But despite telling a deputy during his arrest, "Y’all have no evidence. ... I’ll beat these charges," the suspect has, according to investigators, confessed to the crimes, even showing where and how he committed the reported crimes.  Read more from the Athens …
