Rep. Terry England Appointed to National Committee

The state legislator, who represents portions of Barrow County, will serve on the National Conference of State Legislatures Environment Committee.

State Representative Terry England (R-Winder) was recently appointed to serve on the National Conference of State Legislatures' Environment Committee by House Speaker David Ralston.  NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves legislators and staffs from all 50 states, and the Environment Committee is one of NCSL’s 12 standing committees. According to a news release, these standing committees serve an important role in representing state interests in Washington, D.C., and in facilitating policy innovation among state legislatures. The committees also provide unique forums for the discussion of major issues facing states, which allows legislators to learn from the experiences of other states.   The appointment is for a two-year term …

Rep. Terry England Recognized by American Conservative Union

England has been recognized as a “Defender of Liberty.”

State Rep. Terry England, R-Auburn, has received the American Conservative Union’s “Defender of Liberty” award for voting 100 percent in support of legislation reflecting conservative principles during the 2012 legislative session. The ACU recently released its rankings of the Georgia General Assembly, which includes scores for state House and Senate members based on their votes on legislation deemed important to conservative principles. “I am honored to receive ACU's Defender of Liberty award,” England said in a news release. “As one of the longest standing conservative groups in the nation, I appreciate their recognition of the work we have been doing in Georgia to further conservative principles and I am proud to have been a part of …

Rep. Terry England Receives Legislative Leadership Award for Anti-violence Work

England helped secure a $300,000 increase for family violence centers in Georgia and provided funding to better staff the state's Sexual Offender Review Board.

The Georgia Commission on Family Violence presented an award last week to Rep. Terry England.  Executive Director Greg Loughlin presented England, who represents portions of Barrow County in the state house, with a Legislative Leadership Award last week at a reception in Atlanta. England received the award for securing a $300,000 increase for family violence centers in Georgia and providing funding to better staff the Sexual Offender Review Board. I have had the opportunity to talk to Rep. England regarding Domestic Violence issues on several occasions, when specific laws or issues have come up in Georgia. He has always been remarkably supportive, especially as it relates to ensuring we have the necessary resources to properly fight against family violence. He's saying that in our laws and courts we seem to value animal life more than humans sometimes. I've read news reports of harsh court sentences for abuse of animals. Then I've read of leniency toward repeat child abuse offenders.
