Four Paws Animal Hospital Gives Statham Dog Park a Leg Up

The local vet will host a canine rabies vaccine and micro-chip clinic on Saturday, April 14, to benefit the local dog park.

The Statham Dog Park inside Furr Lane Park off Dooley Town Road has opened to rave reviews from visitors of both the two-legged and four-legged varieties. However, to maintain and enhance the park further, the generosity of the businesses and residents of Statham is required. One local business owner is showing her support in a very special way — one that helps local pooches and the new dog park at the same time. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, Dr. Angela Thibodeaux of Four Paws Animal Hospital will host a Canine Rabies Vaccine and Micro-Chip Clinic in front of Along the Line Antiques on Railroad Street in downtown Statham. During the event, one-year rabies vaccines will be just $15 and micro-chipping will be just $25. In …

Statham Dog Park Opens to Pooches and their Human Parents

The city of Statham raises the doggy door on its latest attraction for four-legged friends of the canine variety.

Four-legged friends of the canine variety have something new to celebrate — the opening of the much-anticipated Statham Dog Park inside Furr Lane Park off Dooley Town Road. For many months, a wide variety of fundraisers have been held to fund construction of a park devoted to man’s best friend — everything from motorcycle rides and Bingo nights, to raffle ticket sales and a holiday tour of homes. All of that hard work and the generosity of the local community have paid off with the recent unveiling of the park earlier this month. There is no charge to visit the Statham Dog Park, and dogs and their owners from all over North Georgia are welcome to use it. Holiday Tour of Homes to Benefit Statham Dog Park

Proceeds from the home tour portion of “Christmas in Statham” will support construction of a much-anticipated dog park in Furr Lane Park.

For anyone who proudly places their precious pup front and center in their annual family holiday photo or dutifully hangs a stocking out for their favorite Fido each Christmas Eve, Patch has just received word of an event you won’t want to miss. The Holiday Tour of Homes in Statham — a special portion of the second annual “Christmas in Statham” event on Saturday, Dec. 10 — costs just $5 to attend and all proceeds benefit the construction of the Statham Dog Park at Furr Lane Park. A local vet is sponsoring canine rabies vaccinations and micro-chip placement at the Statham Gazebo on Saturday, Nov. 19.

UPDATE: Slight change of plans just announced — the clinic is now slated to take place in front of the Depot in downtown Statham. Hop on Your Hog for the Love of Your Dog

A motorcycle ride will benefit the Statham Dog Park.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, in the early morning light to the rev of dozens of motorcycle engines, dog lovers of Barrow County will hop on the back of their Harleys, Ducatis, Vespas and Yamahas for the love of their poodles, pinschers, shepherds and chihuahuas. This weekend’s much-anticipated “Ride for Dogs” is designed to help raise money for the construction of a dog park at Furr Lane Park in the city of Statham. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the cost to participate in the ride is just $10 for individuals and $15 for riders with a passenger. Riders will depart at 11 a.m. from the Statham American Legion on Atlanta Highway for a 50-mile roundtrip motorcycle ride escorted by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office. To stay up-to-date on the …

Dog lovers unite! The city of Statham wants to construct a dog park within the confines of the Furr Lane Park off Dooley Town Road, but they need the public's help. The Statham dog park committee welcomes tax-deductible donations from fans of furry friends and will also be hosting a number of fundraising activities over the coming months to off-set the cost of construction.
