Jeremy Donaldson plays third base for the Bobcats.
A Winder-Barrow High School grad, now a senior at Georgie College, helped the Bobcats baseball team to its first Peach Belt Conference tournament championship Sunday, May 12. A South Carolina news outlet reports Jeremy Donaldson secured the team's insurance run in the sixth inning of the final game. According to Donaldson's Georgie College player profile, he is the son of Jeff and Wendy Donaldson and is majoring in psychology. Click here to read the full tournament story. Cameron Blakely will play college ball for the Charlotte 49ers.
A Charlotte, N.C., news outlet reports Cameron Blakely, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Apalachee High School, has signed with the Charlotte 49ers, the NCAA Division I basketball team at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. According to the report by WBTV, this past season, Blakely scored in double figures every game, had 18 double-doubles and played 14 games in which he made five blocks or more.

Brandon Clinton was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in November 2012 and managing his illness has become "second nature now," allowing him to continue pursuing his love for his favorite sport.

Brandon Clinton hasn't let a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, which came just 10 days after his 13th birthday in November 2012, keep him from pursuing his passion for the sport of baseball. A seventh-grade student at Haymon-Morris Middle, Brandon has been recognized by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for his dedication to getting back to the game. He has been named the pediatric hospital's Comeback Athlete of the Month for March 2013. For those with type 1 diabetes, which is typically diagnosed in children and young adults and was previously known as juvenile diabetes, their bodies don't produce enough insulin, a hormone needed to convert sugar, starches and other foods into energy. Formerly known as the Lingerie Football League, the women's football league plans to debut in Gwinnett in April.
The Legends Football League, which until recently was known as the Lingerie Football League, has announced the roster for the Atlanta Steam on its website. Also, former Arena Football League player Ray Norell is the head coach. The roster includes 20 players. In the LFL, football is seven on seven, with no kickoffs, punts or field goals. The Atlanta franchise will debut in the Gwinnett Arena on Saturday, April 13, against Omaha. Tickets are $15 to 75, according to information on the Gwinnett Arena events calendar. A second Steam game is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, against Cleveland. The LFL recently changed its uniforms, name and marketing approach to brand itself as more than a gimmick.
