Meteor that Disintegrated over Russian City Not Connected to Asteroid

The Washington Post reports a meteor that disintegrated Friday morning over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring more than 980 people, has no connection to an asteroid set to come within 17,200 miles of Earth about 2:25 p.m. today.
