Call for Musicians, Poets, Comedians and Actors: 106 West Signing Up Talent for Upcoming Open Mic

Performers can showcase two original songs or seven minutes of original work.

A local venue is soliciting talent for an upcoming open mic night.  106 West Music School, Supplies and Performing Arts Venue in Winder invites musicians, poets, comedians and actors to take the venue's stage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, to perform up to two original, acoustic songs or seven minutes of original work. Local Theater Group Announces Cast for Upcoming Show 'Once Upon a Mattress'

The musical comedy will open in Winder on Aug. 10.

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre has announced the cast of the third show of the 2013 Season, "Once Upon a Mattress." The musical comedy will open Friday, Aug. 10 and run for two weekends.  Advance tickets are now on sale at a discount price — tickets for adults are $12.50 in advance and tickets for seniors, students and teachers are $10 in advance. Barrow County residents can purchase tickets at Winder City Hall or at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office in Winder. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Barrow County Habitat for Humanity as a part of the theater group's continuing initiative to support local nonprofit organizations. Children's Play to Open This Weekend

The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will stage the play “Twice Upon a Time."

The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is presenting a theatrical experience tailored for children this weekend.  The play “Twice Upon a Time” opens Friday, July 20, at the Colleen O. Williams Theater at the Winder Cultural Arts Center.  Tickets are $5 for ages 12 and younger and $10 for those 13 and older and are on sale now at Winder City Hall and can be purchased using credit cards, cash or checks. Tickets are also on sale at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Call for Contestants: Vocalists Invited to Compete for Auburn Idol 2012

The city preps for a singing competition as part of its Independence Day Celebration.

With Fourth of July just around the corner, all eyes will be turned to the stars as fireworks light up the night sky. In Auburn, attendees of the city’s two-day Independence Day Celebration will turn their eyes to the event stage for a chance to see a few future stars hanging out a little closer to the ground. On Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1, local contenders will compete in a singing contest in hopes of being crowned Auburn Idol 2012, with an opportunity to win a cash prize and sing at the fireworks presentation at the end of the festival. Chateau Elan Kicks Off Summer Concert Series This Weekend

The Braselton resort is taking guests back to the 1950s, '60s and '70s with beach music.

Chateau Elan's 2012 Summer Concert Series begins this weekend. The Swingin' Medallions, dubbed the "party band of the South", will usher in summer with beach music from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27.  Tickets are $30 plus tax and include shag lessons from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.  The Braselton resort will host two additional summer concerts featuring The Jesters on Tuesday, July 3, and The Embers on Sunday, Sept. 2.  Order tickets by calling 678-425-0900, extension 41.
