Jud Smith plans to seek re-election as sheriff of Barrow County. Smith announced this week he will kick off his re-election campaign Feb. 3 during an event at Constance Manor in Winder. The public is invited to attend the reception, sponsored by the Committee to Re-elect Sheriff Jud Smith, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the event venue located at 70 Church St. “I’m just letting people know that I do plan to run for re-election, and I look forward to the election season,” Smith said in a post on the Barrow County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
