New University of Georgia President Confirmed

Jere Morehead will officially replace UGA President Michael Adams on July 1, according to a news release.

University of Georgia Provost Jere Morehead was officially named the school's next president on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, according to a news release from the university system's Board of Regents. Morehead was announced as the sole finalist for the job last week. Morehead, who will replace UGA President Michael Adams, will take over July 1, according to the release. “Jere has devoted the bulk of his career to the University of Georgia and he has a great passion for the University and its service to students and the State of Georgia,” Board of Regents Chair “Dink” NeSmith said in the release. “He knows the University and it became clear to all involved in the search that he is the right person to take UGA forward.
