Local Art Show Pays Homage to Spring

The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center held its final gallery show of 2013 this past weekend and presented awards to several local artists.

The best of show honor for the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center's final gallery show of the 2013 season was presented to a Winder resident. Twyla Germain was recognized for her watercolor collage titled “Struttin’ Into Spring.” The theme for the overall gallery show, which was held Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, was "The Beauty of Spring."  Awards for two-dimensional submissions were presented to Mia Rodriguez of Braselton, who took first place, and John Saude of Lawrenceville, who received second place honors. Three-dimensional awards were given to Jo Cooper of Hoschton, first place, and Bobbie Austin of Social Circle, second place. Local Artists' Work Recognized during Winter Whimsy Art Exhibition in Auburn

The gallery exhibition ran Jan. 19 and 20 at the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center.

Several local artists participated in the "Winter Whimsy" gallery exhibition this past weekend at the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center in Auburn. "Snow Flake Queen" by Mia Rodriguez was the Chairman's Choice winner. Best of Show was awarded to "Winter Eulogy" by Harold Melton. Other winners included "Rubies in the Snow" by Jo Cooper for first place, 3D, and "Quality Time" by John Saude for first place, 2D. The next GPAC gallery show, "Home Sweet Home," is scheduled to take place in March. In April, GPAC will host its annual spring tent festival, Spring Phling. Celebrate Art This Weekend with the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center

Harvest of Art will be held Saturday in Auburn.

It's a fall festival celebrating art — with mini art lessons for adults, a children's art activity, artists displaying and selling their work and more.  The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center will celebrate its annual Harvest of Art from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the GPAC Cottage in Auburn. The event will also include live music and food. Arts Center Invites Artists to Participate in Fall Event

The “Harvest of Art” festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 8.

The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center is making preparations for its annual fall arts festival, and artists are invited to apply to participate.  The “Harvest of Art” festival will be held on the lawn at the GPAC art cottage in downtown Auburn on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.  The event will showcase fine art and fine craft artisans. Also part of the event will be a free children's art activity, free mini art lessons for adult festival attendees, as well as musical entertainment and food. Local Artists' Work on Display at Capitol

Work by seven Georgia Piedmont Arts Center member artists hangs in the offices of the House Appropriations Committee.

Artwork by area residents is currently on display in the Georgia State Capitol.  Work by seven Georgia Piedmont Arts Center member artists hangs in the offices of the House Appropriations Committee.  Rep. Local Organization to Celebrate Spring with Arts Festival

There's something for all ages at this weekend's Spring Phling.

From mini art lessons for adults to an all-day children's art activity, the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center's annual Spring Phling offers fun for all ages.  The fine arts and fine crafts tent festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, April 14, on the lawn at the GPAC cottage in Auburn, where more than 20 artisans will offer their creations for sale. Free mini art lessons in pastels and watercolor painting will be offered for adults, and Barrow residents can call ahead at 404-202-3044 to reserve a seat. A children’s art activity will be also be offered. Award-winning Dacula Artist Donates Work to Support Local Arts Organization

Henry M. Wood Jr.'s watercolor titled "Takin' a Break" will be auctioned off in early February.

An award-winning watercolorist and Dacula resident has donated one of his paintings to support a local arts organization. Henry M. Wood Jr.'s painting titled "Takin' a Break" will be auctioned off at the Barrow Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner Feb. 4 in support of the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center. Residents who wish to bid on the painting who may not be attending the dinner can contact Kathleen Gill, president of the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center, to make arrangements for phone bids. Dacula resident and award-winning watercolorist Henry M. Wood Jr. judged the first of three winter gallery shows for the local nonprofit arts organization.

The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center has deemed its first gallery show of the new year a success. "There was great diversity of work and all skill levels were represented," Kathleen Gill, president of the arts center, said in a news release on "Fire & Ice", the first of three scheduled winter gallery shows for the local nonprofit arts organization.
