Children's Play to Open This Weekend

The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will stage the play “Twice Upon a Time."

The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is presenting a theatrical experience tailored for children this weekend.  The play “Twice Upon a Time” opens Friday, July 20, at the Colleen O. Williams Theater at the Winder Cultural Arts Center.  Tickets are $5 for ages 12 and younger and $10 for those 13 and older and are on sale now at Winder City Hall and can be purchased using credit cards, cash or checks. Tickets are also on sale at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center St. in Winder.  The Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday show will be at 3 p.m.  The play, directed by Billie Nye-Muller, takes three beloved fairy tales and gives them a twist. The first of the three interwoven tales tells the story of…

Bestselling Author to Perform at Winder Library on Thursday — Pick Up Free Tickets to Attend

New York Times bestselling author Eric Litwin, the creator behind "Pete the Cat," will make a Barrow appearance this week.

The Winder Library's summer reading program is in full swing, and the upcoming June 21 event is extra special.  New York Times bestselling author Eric Litwin, the creator behind "Pete the Cat," will give two performances at 11 a.m. and noon Thursday, June 21. Statham Public Library Invites Young Readers to ‘Dream Big’

The summer reading program uses fun programming and books to encourage local children to exercise their imaginations.

Armed with the tagline “Dream Big — Read!,” the Statham Public Library kicked off its summer reading program earlier this week with a magic show featuring the talents of Keith Karnok. Dinosaurs Take a Bite Out of Downtown Auburn in Return of Movies in the Park

This week sees the return of the Auburn Farmers Market on June 6 and Movies in the Park on June 9.

First Summer Event at Winder Library Features Ventriloquist

Celebrate summer with weekly events at your local library.

Kicking off its summer reading program events, the Winder Library will host Keith Karnok, ventriloquist extraordinaire, during a show at 11 a.m. today.  The show is free to attend, as are all summer library events.  A little about Keith Karnok Keith Karnok is a married father of four, grandfather of three and a resident of Watkinsville. In addition to being a magician and ventriloquist, he is a professor at the University of Georgia where he has won 25 teaching awards, including the Josiah Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching, the university's most prestigious teaching honor. In addition to being a teacher, Karnok has authored more than 275 articles in his scientific field as well as two children’s books. He is an accomplished scientist …

Summer Reading Program Begins on Thursday at Winder Library

All event are free to attend.

The Winder Library will kick off its summer reading programs this Thursday, May 24.  Residents are invited to join the library for music and fun — all shows are free to attend — and to read for prizes.  Summer reading material for middle and high school students will be available, but the supply is limited, so parents are encouraged to stop in soon.   All summer show times are 11 a.m., with the exception of Eric Litwin, who will perform two shows at 11 a.m. and noon June 21. Patrons are asked to choose a time to attend and pick up free tickets in advance.
