'Tis the season of giving, and firefighters with Barrow County Emergency Services are joining members from the Barrow Emergency Support Team/Community Emergency Response Team in hosting their annual “Empty Stocking” toy drive. “All proceeds from this toy drive will again go to the Holiday Connection store,” Lieutenant Scott Dakin said in a news release. “This means that all donations will stay right here in Barrow County to help those of our neighbors that are in need this Christmas.” The Holiday Connection is a gift store operated by Barrow County Family Connection/Communities in Schools, a collaborative in which various local agencies work together to meet the needs of Barrow County residents. Just two days after the Thanksgiving holiday, Barrow County Emergency Services and the Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team will be collecting toys to help make Christmas merry for local children in need. The Empty Stocking Toy Drive kicks off Saturday in the parking lot of the Barrow Crossing shopping center, where county first responders and CERT members will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children between the age of 3 and 18.
