The Clergy Connection

Pressing into 2011

Two things are paramount in beginning this new year.

This week's guest columnist is Bruce Rhodes, pastor of Lifeway Church in Auburn, who shares a message as we move into a new year. The apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said these words in Philippians, "... this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." As we step into 2011 we should do these two things: 1. Leave the past in the past … at last. Let go of all those things that have been stopping you. You cannot change anything that happened last year and you cannot go forward by looking behind you. God is a God of grace and He forgives us of every sin and shortcoming of the past …
