Former Winder Mayor Chip Thompson endorses Danny Yearwood in his run for State Senate in an online audio recording. In the recording, Thompson states, "Barrow County Commission Chairman Yearwood couragously led our county through tough economic times" and "I know Danny Yearwood will serve us well in the State Senate." Last night's Winder City Council meeting was the final meeting for outgoing Mayor Chip Thompson and outgoing Councilman Frank Dunagan, who did not seek re-election. Larry Evans took the majority of votes for an at-large council seat, while incumbent Councilman Charlie Eberhart held on to Ward 2.
Unofficial results in the Winder municipal election have David Maynard ousting incumbent Mayor Chip Thompson with 745 votes to Thompson’s 548. Larry Evans drew 828 votes over opponent Tim Bolt’s 431 for an at-large council seat. Incumbent Councilman Charlie Eberhart received 158 votes to challenger Jim Cooley’s 39 votes.
