Water Main Break Disrupts Service for Auburn Residents

The city says a construction company hit a line at Carter Road.

A water main break has disrupted service for many Auburn residents, according to a post on the city's Facebook page.  The city says a construction company hit a line at Carter Road and Auburn Public Works is currently working to restore service. Woman Dies in Auburn House Fire

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports a woman died from injuries sustained in a house fire over the weekend.

An Auburn woman died from injuries she sustained in a house fire Saturday night, according to a report by the Gwinnett Daily Post. Gwinnett County firefighters reponded to a home on Flowery Branch Road near Pilgrim Lane, where a male occupant was rescued from the fatal blaze. Click here to read the full story.

New Dentist Office Opens in Auburn

The Barrow County News reports the Auburn Dental Center is now accepting patients.

Iris Akridge presented proposals sought to engineer solutions for stormwater drain off, affecting resident in two Auburn neighbourhoods. Residents in Governors Ridge and Sue Lane have logged complaints of severe water run-off damaging their properties. Auburnfest is Right Around the Corner

The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, and Sunday, Oct. 16.

Commemorating its 20th year, AuburnFest 2011 will feature arts and craft exhibitors from all over the Southeast. The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. Stroll Auburn’s charming downtown area while perusing unique offerings from the vendors and enjoying the many foods and pursuits this great fall festival has to offer. In addition to arts and crafts, this two-day celebration will offer up a cornucopia of live music and entertainment, plus games, activities and fun for the whole family. Auburn Welcomes Newest Police Officer

The Auburn City Council met Thursday night for its monthly workshop meeting.

The Auburn City Council was introduced to the city's newest police officer at Thursday night's work session. Sergeant Diane Campbell fills the department's last vacant position. She first met members of the Auburn Police Department when she conducted their Taser training earlier this year. "She put a Taser in my hands," Mayor Linda Blechinger said. Campbell started with the police force Sept. 2 and will complete her training Sept. 26.  Other business
