Fund Established in Memory of Child who Died After Falling from Father's Work Truck

The fund is in memory of 4-year-old Xavier Franklin.

A memorial fund has been established for a 4-year-old Auburn boy who died after being run over by his father's work truck Sept. 10.  "A fund has been established in his memory, to help his family during this time of grieving," a flier e-mailed to Barrow Patch reads. "Xavier leaves behind his parents, Robert and Veronica Franklin, as well as his 7-year-old brother and best friend, Josiah. He will also be greatly missed by his very large, loving family."  Donations can be made at any local Community & Southern Bank, care of the Auburn branch, or can be mailed to:  Community & Southern Bank  P.O. Child Who Died after Falling from Father's Work Truck Identified

The Barrow Journal reports that no charges will be filed related to the accident.

A work truck coasting backward in neutral gear crushed a 4-year-old boy who slipped while riding on its passenger side bumper on Sept. 10, WSB Radio reports said earlier this week.  According to the Barrow Journal, the child has been identified as Xavier Franklin of Auburn. The driver was 28-year-old Robert Franklin of Mount Moriah Road. The boy and his 7-year-old brother had been riding the six-wheel truck after repeatedly asking their father to let them, Gordy Wright of the Georgia State Patrol told the radio station. Dad's Work Truck Runs Over Son

The 4-year-old Auburn, Ga., boy died after slipping off the vehicle, according to news reports.

A work truck coasting backward in neutral gear crushed a 4-year-old boy who slipped while riding on its passenger side bumper, WSB Radio reports. The boy and his 7-year-old brother had been riding the six-wheel truck after repeatedly asking their father to let them, Gordy Wright of the Georgia State Patrol told the radio station. The accident occurred about 6:50 p.m. Monday at the Mount Moriah Apartments. No charges were expected, according to media reports. A Resident's Perspective: Wildcats Undefeated, City Boasts Only Regulation Ball Fields in County

The Auburn Wildcats played their first season with a perfect record and beat out several teams from surrounding counties to win their tournament.

With standing room only, Councilman Bob Vogel started the public portion of the Auburn City Council's November business meeting by recognizing the Auburn Wildcats — an Auburn Dixie Youth 13 and 14 boys team — for a perfect season. Not only did the boys win 20 consecutive games, they also went on to win the tournament. The tournament was played at the Parks Mill baseball field. Coach Ken Duym addressed the council and residents present, boasted the team’s performance. Vogel and Duym both pointed out the controversy surrounding the new ball fields in Auburn — the only regulation field in Barrow County.
