Apple's iTunes Reaches 25 Billion Downloads Worldwide

A man in Germany made the download and received a gift from Apple.

Apple's iTunes just keeps on keeping on in the 21st century music world. The company announced Tuesday, Feb. 6, that it has hit 25 billion downloads worldwide. According to CNN.com and other media reports, Phillip Lupke of Germany was the lucky downloader. For clicking at the right moment, he'll be getting a 10,000-Euro (about $13,500) iTunes gift card. The song was "Monkey Drums" (Goksel Vancin Remix) by Chase Buch. To put that in perspective, 25 billion is equal to about 3.5 songs for every person on the planet. This also illustrates the exponential growth of iTunes. Just three years ago, Louie Sulcer of Woodstock downloaded tune number 10 billion — Johnny Cash's "Guess Things Happen That Way." iTunes launched in 2003. According to Apple…
