Office duties for the Barrow County Board of Elections and Registration, housed in the county administration building,More are handled by three full time county employees responsible for overseeing voter registration and the election process. The five-member board that meets monthly consists of two appointees from the Republican Party, two appointees from the Democratic Party and one appointee made by the Chief Judge of the Superior Court. The board is responsible for setting office policy. Barrow County's elections supervisor is Katherine Ferm.
Barrow County Sheriff's Office

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office, headquartered at the former Barrow County Courthouse in downtown Winder under theMore leadership of lifelong county resident Sheriff Jud Smith, is made up of four divisions: detention, uniform patrol, criminal investigations and administration.

The uniform patrol division is the most visible and is responsible for responding to calls and incidents, enforcing traffic laws throughout the county, serving civil papers and warrants, and working inside the schools. This division employs 58 deputies and supervisors and three civilians.

The detention division, which staffs and oversees the county's detention center, employs 102 trained officers and civilians and is headquartered at the new county courthouse facility at 652 Barrow Park Drive. 

The criminal investigations division handles  investigations related to property crimes, crimes against persons and narcotics-related crimes. 

The administration division provides support for the other units, overseeing employee services, training, recordskeeping, public services, information technology and court security.

Barrow County Schools Professional Development Center and Centra

The administrative offices for Barrow County Schools are housed in the system's Professional Development Center. InMore addition to centralized registration for local students, the facility also houses the uperintendent's office and the following departments: teaching and learning, special education, student services, human resources, business services, technology, school nutrition and facilities. Monthly meetings of the Barrow County Board of Education are held here.
Barrow County Tax Assessor's Office

Located inside the Barrow County Administration Building, this department is responsible for appraising all propertyMore located within the county—more than 30,000 parcels of real estate, more than 1,300 parcels of personal property and more than 1,000 manufactured homes—at fair market value to determine an owner's annual property taxes. All property values are approved by the three-member Board of Tax Assessors before any change in value is made. The Barrow County Assessor's Office fields any questions concerning appraisals.
