The Winder Fire Department provides fire prevention services, fire safety education, fire suppression and rescue to residents within the city limits. The department, under the leadership of Chief Ray Mattison, responds to more than 1,000 emergency calls a year, as well asnon-emergency calls for assistance. Department capabilities include two fire stations, three engine companies, one ladder company, a rescue company and one special response unit.
