A non-profit community-based collaborative helmed by a volunteer board of directors, Barrow County Family Connection/Communities In Schools, or BCFC/CIS, is made up of other non-profit agencies, government and law enforcement agencies, the local faith community, local businesses and concerned residents of Barrow County.

The agency develops, implements and evaluates a community plan for improving and maintaining children's health, ensuring they are ready to start school and thrive once they enter classrooms. The local agency is part of Family Connection, a statewide initiative of 159 community collaborative partnerships.
