Local Organization Gives More than 450 Book Bags to Barrow County Children

More than 450 children will be headed back to school in Barrow County with new book bags thanks to a local organization. 

Barrow County Family Connection and Communities in Schools held its annual Back to School Bash on Tuesday evening, giving away books bags, school supplies and the Game of Life to encourage family game nights. 

The demand from the community was so great that many people were turned away when the book bags ran out. Executive Director Meg Loggins said the organization accepts donations of book bags and school supplies year-long as families often come in throughout the school year asking for help. Staff and volunteers of Barrow County Family Connection and Communities in Schools will now look toward the annual Holiday Connection toy drive to provide Christmas gifts for children whose families are in need this upcoming holiday season.
