Sidewalk and Signal Work Continues Next Week in Winder

Sidewalk work will take place during the day, signal pole work at night.

Contractors are now focused on the streetscape part of the downtown Winder Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) project.

Next week, sidewalk construction will continue from the railroad tracks toward Candler Street on the courthouse side of Broad Street. On Jan. 29 and Jan. 30, crews will work during the overnight hours on traffic signal poles and pedestrian signal poles. GDOT advises one lane will be closed from Porter Street to Stephens Street Wednesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. overnight to 6 a.m. the next day.

The .72-mile, $4.9 million project includes new, wider sidewalks, decorative lighting, benches, bike racks, plantings and removing the damaged asphalt parking areas then rebuilding them.
