Show Us What You Did This Summer

Staycation? Vacation? Either way, upload photos of how you spent your summer.

School has been in session for almost a month now, plenty of time to settle back in to a routine, and to miss the lazy days of summer vacation. What did you do over summer break? A 25-city, four-week tour of Europe? A week-long trip to a sunny beach? A day-long road trip? Share your photos on Barrow Patch!

Turns out those staying home this summer are in the minority, because AAA travel club reports that the number of Americans traveling has been on a slow and steady increase for the last two years. AAA's travel data from July 4 of this year showed a 4.9 increase from last year for people trekking more than 50 miles from home to celebrate.

"Americans are still in love with their vacations and they are finding ways to finance those vacations despite the slow-growing economy," said Cynthia Brough, director of public relations for AAA's national office. Brough said travelers these days are looking for value and economy, however they personally define it.

I grew up in a Winder where doors were not locked and the town was full of folks shopping! SometimesRead More a moonshiner would get caught or the parking meter would run out of time and one would get a parking ticket by one of the three cops in town! Now I keep a weapon handy because of voices and footsteps on the pavement at night! Where are these people coming from and going to after one o'clock in the morning? Why does it take so long for a policeman to show up after a call is made,if they show up at all? I've watched nice homes on my street turn into dumps. They are rented by owners who are only interested in the money and not the quality of people who are renting. Yeah, I keep a weapon and it's loaded for a thief or prowler! When seconds count a cop is only several minutes away,if at all!
