Former Winder-Barrow Star Pentecost Picked in 1st Round of MLB Draft

Max Pentecost was selected 11th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Former Winder-Barrow High School star Max Pentecost was selected 11th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday in the Major League Baseball first-year player draft.

Pentecost, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound catcher, is a junior at Kennesaw State, which is playing Louisville this weekend in the NCAA Super Regionals.

Pentecost, 21, the son of Wanda and Maxwell Sr. Pentecost, was batting .423 with 9 home runs and 58 RBIs in 62 games for the Owls.

He is the highest baseball draft selectee from Kennesaw State, the school said.

"It's a feeling that's hard to put into words," Pentecost of the selection in a Kennesaw State press release. "It's a great feeling to know that all the hard work and time you've put in in the past has paid off."
