Superintendent Comments on School Calendar Change
Wanda Creel said the new calendar is modeled based on Walton County's 160-day calendar.
In an e-mail to Barrow Patch on Thursday afternoon, Barrow County Schools Superintendent Wanda Creel has this to say about the :
The 160 day calendar was approved this past Tuesday evening at our Board meeting. Minutes have been added to each day so that we will have the equivalent of 180 days. The calendar is modeled after Walton Counties 160 day calendar. As we researched their data we were not able to note any decrease in student achievement.
The 2012-13 school year is set to begin Aug. 13, 2012, and end May 16, 2013.
