School Bus Routes to Change for Students in Apalachee Cluster

The that was passed by the Barrow County Board of Education takes effect this school year, meaning a shift in bus routes. These shifts will affect the following schools:

  • Auburn Elementary
  • Bethlehem Elementary
  • Kennedy Elementary
  • Yargo Elementary
  • Haymon‐Morris Middle
  • Westside Middle
  • Apalachee High School

This rezoning has caused a shift in the bus routes — the routes have been reworked to ensure students’ safety and efficiency in crossing Ga. Highway 316.

According to the school system, parents will likely see changes in their students’ bus numbers. To find out your student’s bus route number, visit www.barrow.k12.ga.us after today or call the transportation department at 770‐867‐2783.

Schools have implemented the Positive Behavior In Schools program — an initiative to encourages the students to follow rules and exhibit good behavior with positive reinforcement in hopes to alleviate the need for harsh discipline. After seeing the program’s success, the system’s transportation staff will undergo specific training to use the program on buses as well.
