This is Not Your Father's Business Card!

The Business Card Resume (BCR) is not your father's business card. The BCR is designed to help you hit a home run at interviews and job fairs.

Question: Rob, what is the Business Card Resume (BCR)?

Rob's Answere: The BCR is NOT just a plain ordinary business card. Plain-ordinary business cards will not help you stand out. They are one sided with all the usual contact info. The BCR takes the ordinary business card to the next level. The BCR uses both side of the card. The front side has all the usual contact info, but contains bulleted items that include your education, certifications and membership in professional groups. On the reverse side, is your S.E.L.L.s (Skills, Education and life lessons) pitch. Your SELLs pitch is a brief 45 second synopses of what you bring to the job. Here’s my S.E.L.L.s pitch and yes it is on the on reverse side of my BCR.

“I am your next adult educator whose skills at taking almost any subject and make it both exciting and interesting while impacting the lives of the learner is legendary! Who do you know that could use someone with my skills education and life lessons?”

When I leave the interview, I hand the hiring professional my Business Card Resume. Business Cards Resumes are a homerun at job fairs. When you are working a job fair, you leave your resume and cover letter with the recruiter, shake hands and move on to the next table. With your BCR you are not lost in the crowd you stand out! Hand your BCR to the recruiter and say, “Here’s my Business Card Resume. Use it as a bookmark, put it in your pocket, or use it to pick your teeth, but if you want someone who is forward thinking, I am your guy!

With a BCR, you will be remembered!
