Winder Housing Authority Gets Piece of Federal Grant

The agency is one of 20 in Georgia that will be sharing $1.4 million, Access North Georgia reports.

Winder's Housing Authority will get help from the federal government in hiring or retaining service coordinators to work with local families assisted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Access North Georgia says the authority is one of about 20 agencies in the state that will share $1.4 million to help administer HUD's Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program and Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

The authority, which operates more than 300 public housing units in the city and surrounding areas, also received federal grant money last year.
