Time is Running Out for Early and Absentee Voters

With the general election just around the corner on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the city of Winder would like to remind residents that the deadline for early and absentee voting is rapidly approaching.

Early voting ends Friday, Nov. 4, and absentee ballots must be received by mail no later than the close of polls on Election Day. Military personnel who wish to submit a Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act ballot must have it postmarked by the date of the election. These must be received by either the registrar or absentee ballot clerk no later than Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 in order to be counted. Mailed ballots may be addressed to the Barrow County Annex Building, 233 E. Broad St., Winder, GA 30680.

If you wish to cast your vote early for both the city and county election, you have until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 to drop by the . Otherwise, you can join your neighbors at the polls Nov. 8 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The polling place for city of Winder elections is the .

This year’s Municipal General Election in Winder pits incumbent against current at-large council member , and incumbent council member Charlie Eberhart against challenger for the Ward 2 seat. Travis Singley runs unopposed for the Ward 4 council seat, as and Larry Evans vie for Maynard’s open at-large council seat.
