Statham Seeks Poll Workers for Upcoming Election

The latest news from city hall.

With the municipal General Election just around the corner, the has issued a request for poll officers.

To facilitate preparations for the big day, the selected appointees will need to attend a special training session at Statham City Hall for two to three hours on a yet-to-be-determined date during the month of October. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, those chosen to work the polls will need to plan to be at city hall from 6:00 a.m. until all votes are counted later that evening. 

In order to qualify for the appointment of poll officer (O.C.G.A. 21-2-92), one must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of Barrow County
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language

One may not be appointed to be a poll officer if they are:

  • A candidate
  • Holding public office, other than a political party
  • Related to a candidate
