Statham Police to Take Advantage of State Training

Police Chief Steve Martin briefed the city council Thursday on plans for two officers to receive training on handling Internet crimes against children.

With an increase in cases involving Internet crimes against children, Statham Police Chief Steve Martin said he plans to take advantage of free training offered by the state of Georgia — training that will bring the department up to speed on handling such incidents.

Martin briefed the Statham City Council on Thursday during its work session on his plans to have two officers take part in the training, which is offered at no cost to the department or the city.
