Statham to Increase Enforcement of Quality of Life Ordinances

The city of Statham takes great pride in being a beautiful and friendly historic municipality of Barrow County. Needless to say, maintenance of that image requires the hard work and dedication of all of its residents and local business owners.

To that end, earlier this month the announced that its officers will be partnering with the city's code enforcement office to enhance the enforcement of quality of life ordinances within city limits. Items of particular interest for which officers will be on the lookout include:

• Missing street numbers or numbers not visible from the street
• Animal violations, including tethering, leash law violations and tag violations
• Property maintenance violations
• Parking violations 
• Inoperable vehicles
• Vacant or abandoned residences, particularly those that are not maintained or in poor condition

Additional violations not listed above will also be addressed by officers as they are encountered. Citations issued for code violations may require an appearance in Statham Municipal Court. Each situation will be handled individually and the Statham Police Department will work with homeowners in any way they can to get issues resolved in an effective and timely manner.
