Statham Council Reads through Three Proposed Ordinances

- Top agenda items:
- The council is reading through three new ordinances. A property tax collection ordinance would allow the clerk to issue letters to the chief of police authorizing him to levy and sell properties to collect past due property taxes. A parking bill would require that cars only park with the flow of traffic. There is also a special tax district ordinance.
- Betty Lyle gave the council an update on the Sunflower Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11. There are currently 25 vendors confirmed for the event.
- Gayle Steed gave an update on the dog park committee, which will be raffling off a golf cart at the Sunflower Festival and plan to host a bingo charity event at the American Legion tentatively scheduled for Aug. 20.
