New Year, New Council Member in Statham

City of Statham says goodbye to outgoing Council Member Joe Hayes and hello to incoming Council Member Perry Barton next month.

With one last work session and one remaining council meeting left for 2011, the city of Statham makes ready to bid a fond farewell to outgoing Council Member Joe Hayes.

Hayes chose not to seek re-election to the Statham City Council during the November Municipal General Election due to other obligations. Assuming his place at the council table as of Jan. 1, 2012, will be incoming Council Member Perry Barton. Returning for another term next year is Council Member Hattie Thrasher, who was re-elected by Statham voters at the polls in November.

In Statham’s December 2011 newsletter, the city thanked Hayes for his service, while congratulating Barton and Thrasher for their election/re-election to city council. Residents of Statham who wish to see Hayes in action one last time before his final departure are welcome to attend either the work session scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 and/or the council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. Both meetings will be held at .
