Health Department to Remain Closed for Minimum of Two Weeks Due to Storm Damage

Health departments in neighboring counties are preparing to provide services to Barrow residents.

The will remain closed for the next two weeks after strong winds during storms late Monday night and early Tuesday morning ripped a portion of the roof off the county administrative annex, where the health department is located.

The department's Environmental Health Office was hit hardest by the storm, and the department will remain closed until the damage can be repaired. No damage estimates were available, but the health department is expected to remain closed
for at least two weeks.

Residents who receive services from the Barrow County Health Department can receive care temporarily at the health departments in Jackson, Walton, Clarke and Oconee counties.

For environmental health services, such as restaurant inspections and septic permits, contact the Northeast Health District's Office of Environmental Health in Clarke County by calling 706-583-2658.
