GDOT: We're 'Getting It Done in Winder'

Four of nine sections of Broad Street project are complete.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced substantial progress has been made on the Broad Street roadwork and enhancement project.

Four out of nine sections of concrete panels are complete (see PDF). In total, contractors have installed 145 out of 350 panels that will comprise the driving surface of the road.

Street parking in front of the courthouse remains unavailable this week as slab installation occurs. Nightly lane closures are expected through Friday from Midland Avenue to Stephens Street.

The $4.9-million, .72-mile long project is expected to be completed by July 31, 2014. In addition to rebuilding the driving surface of State Route 11/Broad Street, the project will include new sidewalks, curb and gutter, benches, lighting and landscaping.
