Construction on Aldi Store Set to Begin This Summer

Construction should begin this summer on a . 

The Aldi project is one of several planned developments within the city limits. 

Developments either under review, under construction or complete:  

• The on West Candler Street has submitted plans for an addition and construction should begin within 30 days. 
• The new Social Security Office on East Broad Street has been completed. 
• Construction plans for Stratford Court, the proposed senior living facility that will be located across from the Villas at Winder on Jefferson Highway, are expected to be submitted to the city for review in the next few weeks

General projects: 

•  — Substantially complete with asphalt work beginning the week of April 30 to correct some drainage issues and to remove and redo some unacceptable asphalting 
• Winder Downtown Streetscape project — Project is on the Georgia Department of Transportation's letting schedule for late summer/early fall 2012 and a major portion of sewer line relocation work associated with the project has been completed and some sewer service lines now need to be rerouted 
•  demolition project — Demolition is complete and the footings for the steel reinforced wall were completed the week of April 23 
• City is working on an East Stephens Street/Georgia Avenue drainage project 
•  — Under way 
• Georgia Department of Transportation Highway 81 gateway beautification project — Complete
