Winder Seeks Solid Waste Collection and Demolition Contractors

Requests were posted this week for proposals from contractors for residential and light commercial solid waste services and bids from contractors for demolition of the Old Granite Hotel.

On the heels of a request for bids from contractors interested in leading the construction of the Embassy Walk Force Main issued earlier this month, the city of Winder has now announced a quest for contractors to be considered for two additional municipal projects.

The first — announced Friday, Oct. 14 — involves a request for proposals for residential and light commercial solid waste collection and disposal services.

The initial term of the contract will be four years, although the city may provide an automatic extension of two years to a contractor that can provide Compressed Natural Gas vehicles.

Sealed bids will be opened and read publicly by the finance director in the lobby of at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. Contractors who wish to be considered for this contract should review the Solid Waste RFP document online for more details.

The second — announced Wednesday, Oct. 19 — involves a request for bids for the Old Granite Hotel demolition and North Wall stabilization project. This project involves the in downtown Winder — located at 52 N. Broad St., as well as the construction of bracing for one wall to remain. Bidders for this project must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting at 2 p.m. Nov. 10, 2011 at the . Sealed proposals are being received by City Clerk Sabrina Wall at Winder City Hall until noon Thursday, Nov. 17, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.
