City of Winder Moving Forward with Redistricting

The council will hold informational meetings to receive public comment and input on the proposed amendment May 26 and July 12.

The Winder City Council will consider an amendment to the city charter that provides for the reapportionment and redistricting of the four city council wards.

The council intends to vote on the amendment at its regular meetings June 7 and July 12 and will then submit the new map to the state.

The redistricting will ensure each ward has comparable representation following information released in the 2010 census.

The council will hold informational meetings to receive public comment and input on the proposed amendment from 6 to 8 p.m. May 26 and 5 to 6 p.m. July 12 at the .

A copy of the proposed amendment will be available at the public meetings and will be on file in the office of the city clerk and in the office of the clerk of . The Winder city clerk will provide a copy of the proposed amendment upon written request.
