Auburn Reaches Out to Residents Via Fa-la-la-la-Facebook

The city is using social media to promote area businesses, announce community events and share the latest news.

The city of Auburn is one of a growing number of municipalities that have embraced the power of social media to reach residents.

Through Auburn’s Facebook page, the city will often announce grand openings, promote local businesses and share the news about the latest happenings around town. Just within the past couple of weeks, Auburn’s trusty Facebook administrator has listed a number of area salons for holiday party-goers who may be interested in having their hair and nails done, dispelled any fears from residents who didn’t realize the storm sirens were part of a regularly scheduled test and announced the grand opening of one of the city’s newest businesses — men and women’s clothing store Le Style Bank at 1648 Atlanta Highway, Suite 106.

Updates to the page can come from several different sources. In the spirit of the season, the Auburn Police Department used the page to appeal to the city’s fan base last week asking if anyone knows of a family in the community who could use some assistance during the holidays and — if so, they are asked to please call Donna Marie Wall at 770-513-8657 ext. 219.

The residents of Auburn have already shown a great deal of compassion for those in need, as Mayor Linda Blechinger recently expressed her gratitude to those who helped fill two vehicles with gifts for the residents of Northside Hospital delivered by the Mayor’s Motorcade. Facebook is also an excellent interactive tool for residents to ask questions or express opinions. To join the conversation, simply visit the city of Auburn, GA Facebook page and click “like”.
