Barrow's Unemployment Rate for June Slightly Lower than Northeast Georgia Overall
The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the preliminary unemployment rate in the Northeast Georgia area rose to 8.8 percent in June.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the preliminary unemployment rate in the Northeast Georgia area rose to 8.8 percent, up from 8 percent in May. The rate was 9.8 percent in June 2011.
Barrow County's unemployment rate is slightly lower at 8.6 percent.

According to a news release, the rate for Northeast Georgia increased because 1,159 new job seekers entered the labor force, but were unable to find work, pushing unemployment up 2,486.
