Barrow GOP Chairman Weighs in on Redistricting

The chairman of the Barrow County Republican Party thinks two municipalities in Barrow should be part of districts with other counties when the state legislature draws new political districts this fall.

The chairman of the Barrow County Republican Party thinks two municipalities in Barrow should be part of districts with other counties when the state legislature draws new political districts this fall.

The Athens Banner-Herald reported GOP Chairman Ken Young spoke at a June 21 public hearing in Gainesville — one of 12 held around the state — saying that because North Georgia will gain districts at the expense of South Georgia due to population shifts, Bethlehem should be included with Walton County or Statham should be part of a district with Western Clarke County or Northern Oconee County because they have similar interests.
