Barrow County 2012 Election Results

Barrow Patch is at the Barrow County Administration Building waiting for elections results. This article will be updates as results come in. Please note results are unofficial until certified by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. 

8:24 p.m. — Two of 16 precincts reporting with Romney with 1,057 to Obama's 295 and Gary Johnson with 43 votes. Precinct 9 (Winder Lions Club) and Precinct 8 (Holsenbeck) are the precincts reporting. 

8:30 p.m. — Two precincts reporting with Jud Smith receiving 1,111 votes to James Scott Sr.'s 259.

8:40 p.m. — Two more precincts reporting for a total of four of 16. Romney received 360 votes to Obama's 109 and Johnson's 9 at Precinct 13, Winder Community Center. Romney has 345 votes to Obama's 141 and Johnson's 20 from the Precinct 6, Winder-Barrow High School. 

8:43 p.m. — Jud Smith received 392 votes in Precinct 13 and 374 votes in Precinct 6 to James Scott Sr.'s 95 votes in Precinct 13 and 80 votes in Precinct 6.

8:45 p.m. — Six of 16 precincts now reporting. 

8:47 p.m. — Precinct 14 has Romney with 292 to Obama's 65 and Johnson's 12. Precinct 5 has Romney 904 to Obama's 303 and Johnson's 19. 

8:50 p.m. — Jud Smith received 930 votes in Precinct 5 (Statham fire station) and 310 in Precinct 14 (Cedar Creek Baptist Church) to James Scott Sr.'s 251 in Precinct 5 and 50 in Precinct 14. 

8:54 p.m. — With six of 16 precincts reporting, Jud Smith has 3,117 votes to James Scott Sr.'s 735. 

8:56 p.m. — Six of 16 precincts reporting with Romney receiving 2,958 votes to Obama's 913 and Johnson's 103.  

9:00 p.m. — Proposed Constitutional Amendment 1 has received 2,278 yes votes to 1,541 no. Proposed Amendment 2 has received 2,332 yes to 1,355 no. Still six of 16 precincts reporting. 

9:03 p.m. — Precinct 3 (Bramlett Elementary) reporting with 399 votes for Romney, 90 for Obama and 12 for Johnson. Precinct 4 (Westside Middle School) reporting 442 votes for Romney, 130 for Obama and 15 for Johnson. 

9:10 p.m. — Nine of 16 precincts now reporting with Romney receiving 4,412 votes to Obama's 1,449 and Johnson's 153. In the District 3 commissioners race, Johnny C. Smith is leading with 174 votes to Steve Worley's 156 with three of six precincts reporting. 

9:14 p.m. — Precinct 12 (Midway United Methodist Church) results are 658 votes for Smith to 140 for Scott.

9:22 p.m. — We have 12 of 16 precincts reporting the following: 

  • Romney — 6,379 
  • Obama — 2,002
  • Johnson — 208

9:23 p.m. — With 12 of 16 precincts reporting Jud Smith has 6,644 votes to James Scott Sr.'s 1,652. 

9:30 p.m. — Precinct 1 (Bethlehem Community Center) is reporting 675 votes for Romney, 214 for Obama and 21 for Johnson, with Precinct 15 reporting 631 for Romney, 123 for Obama and 9 for Johnson. 

9:42 p.m. — We have 16 of 16 precincts reporting the following: 

  • Romney — 9,056 
  • Obama — 2,839
  • Johnson — 296 

9:44 p.m. — With six of six precincts reporting, Steve Worley received 1,018 votes to Johnny C. Smith's 561. 

9:45 p.m. — Jud Smith received 9,344 votes to James Scott Sr.'s 2,420 votes, with 16 of 16 precincts reporting. 

9:58 p.m. — The proposed Constitutional Amendment 1 received 7,322 yes votes to 4,432 no. The proposed Amendment 2 received 7,235 yes and 4,113 no. 

10:37 p.m. — Still waiting on absentee and advance voting results. 

10:48 p.m. — After absentee and advance voting results and 16 of 16 precincts reporting: 

For U.S. President 

  • Romney — 18,719 
  • Obama — 6,019 
  • Johnson — 433

For Barrow County sheriff 

  • Jud Smith — 19,099
  • James Scott Sr. — 5,236
